Testimonials

“Barry Stevenson was an alert but calm presence throughout the sessions he facilitated at the recent meeting of the Vaccine Pharmacovigilance Working Group (a meeting hosted by the Public Health Agency of Canada).  He was the embodiment of what good facilitators try to be: 'the guide on the side'. During the planning phase, prior to the meeting, Barry was flexible, and contributed appropriate suggestions in the process of designing a structure that would be likely to achieve the intended objectives.  Later, during the two days of the meeting, when the group was dealing with complex issues, Barry used his expertise to help participants keep on track and address the issues at hand.  He contributed to a very satisfactory outcome: most of the expectations for the work to be produced were met, and in some cases, exceeded.”

“I have experience working with Barry Stevenson while I was the Medical Health officer with Interior Health Authority.  Barry’s work is unique as per his area of expertise is Systems Theory and Complexity Science with application to the workplace, teams and organizational contexts. His work is about understanding the underlying structures that drive and influence individual and group behavior within teams and organizations. Barry deals with ‘conflict’ as it relates to boundary issues (based on the study of ‘boundary critique’ established by Gerald Midgely) which has direct application to First Nations issues and relationships among the various stakeholders in health care delivery. His work at Royal Roads as an Associate Professor and Thesis Supervisor has afforded him many opportunities to work with aboriginal learners in applying boundary critique and a variety of other systemic approaches to research and organizational development issues. There are only a few other consultants with this unique set of ‘Systematic’ practice in the world."
